Really interested to see what has developed in NSW/ACT Synod with the establishment of Saltbush – Uniting the Scattered Community (rural congregations, mainly small), with two ministry practitioners in placement. They have a publication entitled Ruminations that tells more about the concept and to resource rural congregations irrespective of size or location. Depending on the final make up of the congregations who will be part of the Transitional Presbytery in the SA Synod, it may be helpful to invite one of the ministry practitioners to SA to talk about resourcing rural congregations. (They even have an ‘online’ Minister attached to Saltbush – great idea).
Evolution of the idea and more here.
What makes a Caring Effective Pastoral Viable Presbytery? WHAT MAKES AN EFFECTIVE PRESBYTERY
Politics and consensus – a reflection by Terence Corkin
(Also one on Uniting Church Possible, and also on the United Methodist Church). Terence’s reflections help focus how we can be church together, building community in the midst of difference and diversity, and in the new Presbytery structure unfolding in SA.
